Alstom under investigation for corruption
PARIS (AFP) - French engineering group Alstom (Paris: FR0010220475 - news) has been under investigation since November (Frankfurt: A0S9N7 - news) for suspected "corruption" in winning contracts abroad, a judicial source said on Tuesday.
The Paris prosecutor opened a judicial investigation on November 7, 2007 into suspected "corruptipon of foreign public agents", and for "abusive use of assets", the judicial source here said.
The investigation was the result of information provided by Swiss investigators in May, the French source said following a newspaper report on Tuesday that the group was being probed on suspicion of paying bribes to win contracts.
