Alstom under investigation for corruption: French judicial source
PARIS (AFP) - French engineering group Alstom (Paris: FR0010220475 - news) has been under investigation since November (Frankfurt: A0S9N7 - news) for suspected "corruption" in winning contracts abroad, a judicial source said on Tuesday.
The Paris prosecutor opened a judicial investigation on November 7, 2007 into suspected "active corruptipon of foreign public agents", and for "abusive use of assets and receiving", the judicial source here said.
The investigation was the result of information provided by Swiss judicial authorities in May, the French source said following a newspaper report on Tuesday that the group was being probed on suspicion of paying bribes to win contracts.
No-one has yet been charged, the French source said.
Alstom, a leading French industrial group, builds power stations and the TGV high-speed train.
