STOCKS NEWS ASIA-Shares to climb on Wall St gains

WELLINGTON, Nov 6 (Reuters) - Asian stocks are set to jump on Friday as a combination of strong company results and positive ecomomic data sent Wall St up. The main U.S. share indices closed as much as 2.4 percent higher, boosted by strong results from Cisco Systems (NASDAQ: CSCO - news) and positive data on jobless claims and non-farm productivity. British and European shares closed up to 0.6 percent higher after the strong U.S. data, and the Bank of England and European Central Bank (CBSU.PK - news) both left interest rates unchanged. Japanese shares are expected to open firmer with Nikkei (news) futures traded in Chicago 170 points above the last closing level in Osaka. Australian stocks are also set to rise, with share index futures at 4,571, a 63 point premium to the underlying S&P/ASX 200 index's close on Thursday. The U.S. dollar rose slightly, as investors took positions ahead of the closely watched non-farm payrolls report, with the greenback 0.1 percent higher against the yen. Oil prices dipped nearly 1 percent to below $80 a barrel as doubts about future demand outweighed the positive data.
