Fraport seeks more budget airlines for Frankfurt Airport, paper
FRANKFURT, Sept 5 (Reuters) - Frankfurt Airport operator Fraport (Xetra: 577330 - news) wants more low cost airlines to use the airport
after its new runway is opened in 2011, Fraport's chief executive told a German weekly on Saturday.
Stefan Schulte said Fraport has already held initial discussions with some of these airlines, citing EasyJet (LSE: EZJ.L - news) as one of them.
The new runway could also offer growth prospects for airlines such as Air Berlin (Xetra: AB1000 - news) and those from Asia, WirtschaftsWoche quoted him as saying.
He said he expects a decline of 'at least 6 percent' in passenger traffic this year compared with 2008.
'For the next two years, we expect only a slight recovery, which we estimate at around 2 percent,' he added.
