ZURICH (Reuters) - Swiss engineering group ABB said Friday it had been awarded a $24 million (15 million pound) contract by utility National Grid which will help meet demand for power in northwest England.
The contract is for a substation providing the grid connection for a new power station, and will be located on the site of a former coal-fired power station near Manchester.
The project is expected to be completed by 2013 and will produce enough power to meet the needs of 1 million households, ABB said.
