ATHENS (Thomson Financial) - The private equity fund Apax Partners is close to acquiring Greek pay television platform Nova from Multichoice Hellas S.A., sources close to the matter told Thomson Financial News.

The sources explained
that Apax in now the front runner in the bidding, having overtaken its rival, the alternative ISP and telephony company Forthnet S.A.

The deal to acquire Nova could be signed by Apax within the next few days, the sources underlined.

Forthnet has had second thoughts about acquiring the pay TV platform, because it considered the seller's conditions as lengthy and onerous, the sources added.
