Italian Stocks - Factors to watch on July 2
MILAN, July 2 (Reuters) - The following factors could affect
Italian markets on Thursday.

FIAT (Milan: F.MI - news)
Fiat's share of its domestic market edged down to 33.98
percent from 34.38 percent in May as overall sales rose 12.4
percent.
Brazil car sales, where Fiat leads the market with
Volkswagen (Xetra: 766400 - news) , hit a record high as tax breaks continued.
In the United States, Chrysler Group LLC said June sales
fell 42 percent in its first report following its sale to a
group led by Fiat.
Chief Executive Sergio Marchionne's immediate product plans
for Chrysler (Xetra: 710000 - news) could be limited to weeding out weaker models and
tweaking prices as he gears up to launch new designs in about
two years.
Unions have sought a meeting with the industry minister to
discuss Fiat's plans to close its CNH Global (NYSE: CNH - news) farm
equipment plant at Imola and to end production at Termini
Imerese. The meeting could take place between next Tuesday and
Thursday.
ENI (Milan: ENI.MI - news)
Iraq is still negotiating with Eni and Japan's Nippon Oil (Berlin: NIO.BE - news)
Corp over the huge Nassiriya oilfield.
MEDIOBANCA (Milan: MB.MI - news) , MEDIOLANUM (Milan: MED.MI - news)
Italy's antitrust authority gave Mediobanca a six-month
extension on its requirement to exit asset manager Mediolanum, a
source close to Mediobanca said.
BANCO POPOLARE (Milan: BP.MI - news)
The bank said preliminary data showed it had about 84.43
percent of Italease (Milan: BIL.MI - news) after about 77.53 percent of the leasing
unit were tendered in its public offer.
* Banca Popolare could reopen its offer at the same price,
several newspapers said.
RCS MEDIAGROUP
The daily newspaper division, which includes Italy's largest
seller Corriere della Sera, is performing better than other
parts of the group despite efforts to cut staff, MF said in an
unsourced report.
* ATLANTIA
Credit Suisse raised its price target on the toll-road
operator to 20 euros from 18 euros, keeps 'outperform'.
ASSET MANAGERS
The president of the Assogestioni fund managers association,
Marcello Messori, told Corriere della Sera Italian funds risk
being wiped out because of their tax treatment, which is
different from foreign funds.
SMALL AND MID-CAPS
* SAFILO (Milan: SFL.MI - news)
The eyewear maker's lenders have reached an accord to waive
loan covenants and postpone the maturity date of debt due last
June 30, Il Sole 24 Ore (Milan: S24.MI - news) said in an unsourced report.
* ENGINEERING
The company has indicated interest in buying the state
railway's 39 percent stake in TSF, an information systems
company.
AS ROMA (Milan: ASR.MI - news)
Prosecutors opened a probe into possible manipulation of the
Serie A soccer team's stock.
VALENTINO FASHION GROUP
Lenders to the group owned by Britain's Premira
equity fund are seeking to renegotiate Valentino's debt by the
end of the summer as sales fall across the luxury goods sector,
the Wall Street Journal said, citing people familiar with the
matter.
