CHICAGO (AFP) - Boeing Co (NYSE: BA - news) . said Thursday it delivered 125 civilian aircraft in the second quarter, little changed from the 126 in the same period a year ago.

That brings the six-month total for 2009 to 246, up slightly from 241 in the first six months of 2008.

The majority of the airliners were the next-generations 737 small aircraft, with 99 deliveries, followed by the 777 widebody, with 21.

Boeing made a fifth delay in its 787 Dreamliner jet, seen as a key to the company's future. Its first deliveries had been set for early 2010 but a new schedule has not been announced.

Boeing rival Airbus (Paris: NL0000235190 - news) , a unit of the European Aeronautic Defence and Space Company, has not yet released its second quarter delivery figures.

In the first four months of the year, Airbus delivered 162 airliners and hopes to match last year's record of 483 by the end of 2009.
