Dow industrials on track for highest weekly close of 2008

NEW YORK (Thomson Financial) - The Dow industrials were on track for the third-straight weekly gain, and highest weekly close of the year.

The Dow was last up 31 points at 13,041, and is up 149 points since last Friday.

The last weekly close above 13,000 was the week ending Dec. 28, when the blue chip barometer closed at 13,365.87.

The Dow has now gained 716 points in 3 weeks, and 1,147 points since the week ending March 7, when it closed (11,893.69) the week under 12,000 for the first time since the week ending Nov. 3, 2006.
