LONDON (Thomson Financial) - British Prime Minister Gordon Brown admitted Friday that local election results had been 'bad' and 'disappointing' but insisted his Labour Party would learn lessons from it.

Forecasts said Labour, which has been badly struggling in recent opinion polls, had suffered its worst results since the 1960s in Thursday's vote.

London mayoral election results were due to be announced later Friday.
