Italian Stocks - Factors to watch on April 1

MILAN, April 1 (Reuters) - The following factors could affect Italian markets on Wednesday. Reuters has not verified the newspaper reports, and cannot vouch for their accuracy. New items are marked with (*). FIAT (Milan:

href="http://uk.finance.yahoo.com/q?s=F.MI">F.MI - news) , CHRYSLER Fiat SpA's CEO was set for talks with Chrysler LLC unions and creditors in Detroit (DETROIT.SN - news) after U.S. authorities gave the carmakers 30 days to set up a partnership to save the ailing U.S. group. * If objectives are met, Fiat could increase its stake in Chrysler to up to 49 percent after an initial holding of 20 percent, Corriere della Sera without citing sources. La Repubblica said it could go to 51 percent. * Fiat's alliance with Chrysler would generate $7.4 billion of savings in eight years, produce 2 mln cars on joint platforms, and see Fiat brand Alfa Romeo sales of $1.3 billion in American markets, Il Libero said. Standard & Poor's cut its credit rating on Fiat to junk status. Fiat set new temporary lay-offs for workers at its Pomigliano and Termini Imerese plants starting at the end of April and running into May. * UNICREDIT (Milan: UCG.MI - news) Italy's Cariverona foundation has still not said whether it will support a single list of board appointments proposed by the other major shareholders at the bank, MF newspaper said. BANCA POPOLARE Results in the first two months of the year were 'satisfactory', the bank's Chief Executive Pierfrancesco Saviotti said in an interview in Il Sole 24 Ore (Milan: S24.MI - news) . * ENEL (Milan: ENEL.MI - news) , TERNA (Milan: TRN.MI - news) They are expected to sign the deal for Enel to cede a high-voltage electric grid to Terna for 1.15 billion euros, Il Sole 24 Ore said. * A2A (Milan: A2A.MI - news) , EDISON (Milan: EDN.MI - news) A2A continues to be interested to the 10 percent in Edison held by financier Romain Zaleski, A2A CEO Giulamo Zuccoli said in La Stampa. * FINMECCANICA (Milan: FNC.MI - news) The defence and aerospace group could gain $11 billion euros of work on supplies for the United States Joint Strike Fighter aircraft in the period up to 2026, MF newspaper said citing Italian government proposals. * ENI (Milan: ENI.MI - news) , SARAS (Milan: SRS.MI - news) Goldman Sachs (NYSE: GS - news) raised its ratings on these two stocks to 'buy', from 'neutral'. SMALL AND MID-CAP COMPANIES * MARIELLA BURANI FASHION GROUP SPA It reported a 55.2 million euros net loss in 2008, compared with a net profit of 16.8 million euros in 2007. Revenues rose 3.9 percent to 700 million euros. It said it and leather goods unit Antichi Pellettieri (Milan: AP.MI - news) had nominated financial advisors to assist them in their proposed merger. It holds a conference call with analysts at 0730 GMT. * ANTICHI PELLETTIERI It saw a 45.5 percent rise in 2008 net profit to 38.4 million euros as sales rose 32.5 percent to 397.7 million euros.
